Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922)

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

It’s hard to understate the importance of the telephone. Such a revolutionary technological advancement made communication better. Relatively speaking, the electrical telegraph was open to misinterpretation. A written letter might take days or weeks to reach its destination via post.

The telephone gave direct and human voice to long distance communication. Without it, there would be no cell phone. Without it, how would the necessary technology to invent the internet have been possible? Humans are social beings. The necessity of our communication with each other is a fundamental fact. Our closer communication, brought to us by way of the Alexander Graham Bell’s invention, has improved our ability to maintain relationships in all spheres.
