Venter is an American biologist and entrepreneur and the first to sequence the human genome. He created the first cell with synthetic genome.

He founded Celera Genomics, the Institute for Genomic Research and the J.Craig Venter Institute, to conduct work on creating biological organisms.

He has brought multiple ideas to the world, including the “shotgun” approach to DNA sequencing, studies on biodiversity in oceans and built the first synthetic genome. He approached the assembly of DNA like a software developer writes code. In this way, he almost created a living thing in the laboratory.
